Bo’ness is primarily residential with residents tending to commute to surrounding towns, especially to Edinburgh, Linlithgow, Falkirk and Grangemouth. These last three generally lie no more than ten minutes or so away. In the opposite direction, Glasgow takes only a matter of five minutes more. Bo’ness enjoys excellent commuter links with other parts of the country by either road or rail. In the town centre itself, there is a good choice of local shopping facilities providing every possible normal daily requirement. The town also provides a choice of banking, building society and post office services. In general terms, therefore, there is no need to leave the district but, should a more specialised shopping trip become necessary, the county town of Linlithgow is an excellent choice, Falkirk is even better but many will prefer simply to come straight into the Capital.
